Selasa, 12 Mei 2020

The President reminded his staff not to rush about easing plans for large-scale social restrictions (PSBB).

AHAD NEWS ■  President Joko Widodo along with relevant staff carried out an evaluation of the implementation of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) and the application of physical distancing along with health protocols in a number of areas.

In a limited meeting via teleconference from the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, the Head of State wanted an overall evaluation and data connection related to the effectiveness of the implementation of the PSBB which was carried out in 4 provinces and 72 districts and cities.

"We want a detailed evaluation in the provinces, districts and cities regarding data on the trend of adding or decreasing new positive cases in each region, whether or not implementing PSBB," he said.

Based on available data, the implementation of CBDRES in a number of regions has indeed provided varied results and effectiveness. Of these, there are regions that have experienced a gradual, consistent, but not dramatic decline in Covid-19 positive cases. There are also areas that have decreased cases but are still experiencing fluctuations and have not been consistent. In addition, there are also regions that implement CBSS but based on the number of positive cases that are not far adrift from before the implementation of CBTSs.

"Things like this need to be underlined. What's wrong, why? " asked the president.

The data also revealed that of the 10 provinces with the most positive cases, there were only 3 provinces that implemented the PSBB, namely DKI Jakarta, West Java and West Sumatra. While the rest do not apply the PSBB. Therefore, the President said, it was also necessary to evaluate provinces, regencies and cities that did not carry out CBSS and implemented a distance policy and implemented strict health protocols.

"This should be compared to PSBB and non-PSBB because there are indeed innovations in the field by applying a policy model of limiting activities in the community that is adjusted to the context in their respective regions," he added.

In the case of implementing PSBB in a number of regions, the Head of State emphasized that in the implementation and implementation, each region was not trapped in the administrative boundaries of governance. The implementation of the PSBB requires the handling of a large area that is interconnected so that interregional management in the large area becomes integrated in the context of the PSBB.

According to the President, this was applied for example by the Jabodetabek region which is interrelated so that the regulation of social mobility of the community can be carried out in an integrated and better manner.

On the occasion, President Joko Widodo also asked the Covid-19 Handling Task Force to really ensure that Covid-19's control efforts in five provinces (besides DKI Jakarta) in Java were running effectively. Because, as many as 70 percent of positive cases of Covid-19 and 82 percent of the highest mortality rates are in Java.

"I ask the Task Force to ensure Covid control in these five provinces on the island of Java is truly carried out effectively, especially in the next two weeks. Our opportunity may reach the Eid, we must really use it, "he said.

In addition, the President also reminded his staff to be careful about the planned easing of the PSBB which is currently being studied. He stressed that these studies must be based on careful calculations and data in the field that supports the decision making.

"Finally, regarding the easing of PSBB to be done carefully and not in a hurry. Everything is based on data and implementation in the field so that the decision is really a correct decision. Be careful about PSBB easing, "he said.
