AHAD NEWS ■   Kamla Office of the West Maritime Zone Bakamla RI is still working on handling Iranian-flagged cargo ships that foundered in Batam waters, Wednesday (05/13/2020).

Cargo ship with the name Shahraz hull, is known to cross the waters of Batu Stop Sambu, Batam, Riau Islands (Riau Islands). Based on information obtained from the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore, the ship was found aground at 02.32 WIB, Monday (11/5).

This ship suffered a clash of rocks making it difficult to move even though the sea water rose. After coordinating with the Batam Port Authority and Port Authority (KSOP) and Basarnas, a Shahraz cargo ship was handled by moving a portion of the container load so that it was possible for the ship to be withdrawn to the port of Batu Ampar, Batam.

The Kamla West Bakamla RI Office of the Republic of Indonesia deployed KN 406 to assist and work there with the naval elements of the Navy, the Sea and Coast Guard Unit (KPLP), and POLAIR which alternately monitored the situation on the ground. In addition, there is also a Team from the National Search and Relief Agency (BNPP) who is preparing at the KSOP Batam post.

Installation of oil boom is also carried out to anticipate oil leakage at several points on the hull. Thus, oil spills can be confined and not spread to the waters. Rescue operations by the joint team were carried out while adhering to the precautionary protocol against the deployment of Covid-19.(A2M)
